The story of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway is one of bold thinking, innovation and new ways of moving people and goods, connecting Liverpool and Manchester and shaping the wider North West of England. Today, that same spirit continues through Rocket: All Aboard, using the past to inspire more sustainable choices for the future and linking communities through heritage, transport and environmental responsibility.
Working alongside partners across the North West, the project supports regional ambitions to reduce carbon emissions and promote greener transport. Through its activities and programming, Rocket: All Aboard places sustainability at the heart of the project, embedding environmentally responsible approaches across events, travel, engagement and decision-making, while highlighting the continuing role of rail in connecting people and places.
As part of this commitment, partners and participants involved in the project have taken part, or will take part, in Carbon Literacy Training, making personal and shared pledges to help reduce carbon impact. These commitments influence how activities are delivered, how audiences travel to and from events, and how sustainability is considered across the programme.
Rocket: All Aboard is committed to using heritage and culture to inspire positive change, helping contribute to a greener and fairer future for communities across the North West and beyond.
