Map

The original Liverpool to Manchester Railway, often called the Chat Moss Line, is dotted with historic features along its route. These include early stations, bridges, cuttings, tunnels and more. This map highlights their locations and links to a page for each feature, where you can explore their stories in more detail. Mapping research of assets by University of Liverpool, supported by the Rocket: All Aboard Built Heritage Group.

Thank you to Chris Iles from the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Trust and the Science and Industry Museum Group for the use of their photographs.

Keep an eye out for more!... More historic features will be added to this page as we travel along our journey to 2030.
