The latest edition of Salford Link magazine is now available and includes the first in a special series of articles celebrating the journey towards the bicentenary of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 2030.
Published by Salford’s local history community, the new issue is on sale for £3.50 from Salford libraries, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, and Ordsall Hall. It is also available by subscription through the Salford Local History website: www.salfordforum.uk.

The Summer 2026 edition features an article on Rocket All Aboard, introducing readers to the exciting programme of activities, research and heritage projects being developed in the lead-up to the railway’s 200th anniversary.
This marks the beginning of what will be a regular series of articles in Salford Link between now and 2030. Each instalment will explore a different aspect of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway’s remarkable story, shining a spotlight on the people, places, engineering achievements and communities connected to the world’s first modern inter-city railway.
Rocket All Aboard is bringing together partners, historians, community groups and volunteers from across the route to celebrate this globally significant piece of railway heritage. Through events, exhibitions, research projects and storytelling, the programme aims to ensure that the railway’s legacy is better understood and enjoyed by future generations.
We are delighted to be working with Salford Link to share these stories and look forward to taking readers on a fascinating journey through the history of the railway over the coming years.
