Newton-le-Willows Station Community Garden Consultation

A leafy, overgrown strip of vegetation runs alongside the station platform, bordered by a black metal fence with yellow safety markings. A large tree rises above dense shrubs and brambles, while the platform and overhead line equipment stretch into the distance on the right.

A new idea is taking root at Newton-le-Willows station — and local people are invited to help shape it.

Rocket All Aboard is exploring plans to transform an unused green space at the station into a welcoming community garden. The aim is simple: to create a shared space for planting, learning, relaxing and bringing people together.

Before anything is decided, we want to hear from the people who know the area best.

A drop-in consultation session will be held on 18 May, from 11am to 2pm at Newton Community Centre, where you can find out more, share your ideas and help shape what the space could become.

You don’t need to be a gardener to take part. Whether you’re full of ideas or just curious, everyone is welcome.

Community gardens can offer much more than plants and flowers. They can become places to meet, learn new skills and spend time outdoors, right beside one of the world’s most historic railway lines.

This is a chance to turn a quiet corner of the स्टेशन into something lively, useful and rooted in the community.

Come along, have a chat and help decide what grows next.
